  1. I just cut up a bunch of chives to toss in my macaroni salad along with purple onion, cucumber, & red peppers 😋

Leeks, ramps, chives…I think we love them all.

Allium, as in, I’ll take allium, or alternatively, allyum

If they’re wild? The best! Fond memories of wild green brethren in my paternal grandparents garden, when I was a kid. I will snack on it like candy easily!

Love them!! They’ve become a new one I must always have in the fridge lol

  6. Bot_Fly_Bot

I celebrate all things onion and onion-adjacent.

  7. ohmygodtiffany

if you can find them, red spring onions are very nice!

Allium, bby. we love anything allium, bby

I put spring onions on goddamn everything. They just elevate my food.

I love all alliums equally and with great enthusiasm.

It’s all good. Especially leeks. French butter roasted leeks are incredible

The best onions. If it’s hot and savory, throw some green onions on.

  13. WorriedParfait2419

Love them all but scallions are my absolute fave. Love to just chomp a whole stalk.

Green onions are the gateway. A crunchy, delicious, gateway.

  15. unheardbirdie

I put these bad boys in as many savory dishes as I can.

On any given day I will wrap a slice of salami around a green onion and eat it straight out the fridge.

We approve. An onion without any other greens can not shine just as gold without silver and copper and tin will never truly stand out. Idk man I’m not a philosopher but they’re all tasty. Except kale. Fuck kale

I’m down for any kind of onion but a scallion maybe it’s just the way that they are cut. I don’t like the texture. Give me a sweet, a white, a yellow, ramps but not the scallions. I’m sorry if I offend anybody by this post.

    I love all of it!
Ramps especially. For ethical harvesting of ramps, you only take a small amount from each plant. They won’t grow the next season if you take all of them. I *think?* you’re supposed to leave at least 3, but please correct me if I’m wrong!
I learned that from Black Forager! She’s an absolutely endearing person and she’s full of knowledge of edible plants. She even has a segment where she shows two plants (which to people like me, look pretty much identical) and one is poisonous and one isn’t!! She’s awesome and I wish she was my friend IRL! 🩷

  21. Scapes are AWESOME if you can find them.

    lightly oiled on a grill!

    Cook them like asparagus.

Try to get them less flowed than in the picture: They get tough and stringy.

No need for garlic… it is already baked in!

  22. michiganstrange

If you line your garden beds with alliums it keeps away bad bugs

  23. TheSwecurse

Spring onions is just the best onion to have raw on almost anything. Right next to red onions

  24. AdGroundbreaking9321

I’ve been a scapes fan for years and always look forward to finding them at Spring farmer’s markets. This year I’d love to try ramps!

  25. pepto_bisnatch

For some reason, my local trader joes is always out of these and I rage every time when I see the upside down sign. WHO THE HELL IS TAKING THEM ALL I NEED TO KNOW

  26. is-it-a-bot

I could have sworn there was a sub like this for garlic too! I can’t follow instructions on “aromatics,” I will add so much they become a main part of the meal. Like “half an onion” turns into “whatever my heart desires”

  27. SteveMarck

    Would bang.

Do kids still say that, or are you all assuming I mean literally? I meant both, but jw.

  28. sandwichcrusader

I know this is controversial here, but i will say it!

    I like garlic too.

They can work together, or separately, I live both. And im tired of pretending otherwise.
